About Inspire CPD

We have News!

Lynsey's news....

So, my big news is that I am retiring!

It hasn’t been a quick decision, in fact I’ve been pondering it over the past six months. I will greatly miss delivering training to the many lovely therapists I’ve come to know over the past 8 years. But when I reflected I realised that I have now been working for 50 years and it truly feels like the right time to stop and do something different … so I’ll be sewing, crafting, travelling and generally trying to live a positive but more gentle life.

It would be truthful to say I have experienced the full range of emotions about this decision. I have enjoyed my therapy career which for me was probably about career number ten – and I have certainly stayed doing this for much longer than I ever could have imagined. I have also gained a lot of satisfaction from our training business and working with the hundreds (thousands?) of therapists we’ve met over the years.

Sally ....

Lynsey’s decision to retire has prompted me to reflect deeply on my own journey with Inspire and what the future holds. Running Inspire has brought me immense joy, but it’s also been hard work, and will be

even more so without Lynsey! After a long period of reflection (and admittedly, some indecision), I’ve decided to give myself the gift of space. I’ll be taking a six-month sabbatical to let the dust settle and explore what comes next. I’ll continue with my supervision business and use the extra time for more yoga, reformer Pilates, crafting, walks, and—of course—catching up with friends, especially when food’s involved!

It’s unusual for me not to have a clear plan, but I’m embracing this moment of uncertainty and allowing myself to see what unfolds. I

still crave purpose and mental stimulation, so I hope to be keeping that alive in new ways – and if not I’ll be back! If there are any changes or new workshops in the pipeline, I’ll be sure to let everyone know by email. So I feel that this isn’t a true goodbye from me, but rather an ‘au revoir’.

What this means....

The current workshops advertised on our website will be the

last ones we provide together.

As Sally has said above she is taking a six month sabbatical from April. It may be that she continues to deliver workshops with our Associates from time to time. Any further news on that and she will email those on our mailing list.

A very big thank you!

Some of you may only have been to one of our trainings or only have a fleeting awareness of us and our training. However, we also know that many of you know us well and some of you have supported us right from the very beginning when we held workshops in Sherwood Methodist Church and have continued to support us through the pandemic and up to the present day. You have embraced all the new topics we have introduced over the years, and this business would have been nothing without your support and participation – and for that we are very thankful. We do appreciate that some of you may feel

sad at our news, but hope that attending our workshops have contributed in some small way to the enrichment of your professional and personal growth.

Sally French

Psychotherapist, Supervisor & Trainer

My Background

Prior to becoming a psychotherapist I was senior lawyer/manager working for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for 25 years. I specialised in sexual offences, prosecuting cases involving both adult and child victims. My last role was as Head of the East Midlands Rape & Serious Sexual Offences Unit. My motivation to become a psychotherapist stemmed from my desire to understand the experience of survivors of sexual abuse and to improve how the legal system supported them. Working in this challenging role I can readily appreciate the stresses and challenges that a pressurised environment can bring.

During my time with CPS I conducted a lot of training - usually for police officers but also for sexual violence agencies including Rape Crisis which is where I first met Lynsey. Since then we have worked together running a survivors group for NAPAC, before eventually deciding to form Inspire CPD. In addition I have regularly run professional development days for the BACP. I have also run ‘Consent Workshops’ for young professional Championship football players for clubs including Chelsea, Arsenal, Leicester, and Stoke.

I am a qualified psychotherapist (Level 7 MSc) and am accredited and registered with the UKCP. I have a UKCP accredited post graduate diploma in supervision and have been a supervisor since 2019.

At present I am no longer taking on any new private therapy clients.

Supervision

I am an Integrative Psychotherapist, as I believe that integrating all aspects of our relational, emotional, psychological and physiological needs and understanding the impact of our environment is essential to our personal growth. I integrate Person Centred theory, predominantly with attachment, relational and developmental theories. I have a special interest in trauma theory. Whilst understanding the importance of being led by the client in the here and now, I fundamentally believe that the 'there and then' i.e. our client's childhood and history have a fundamental impact on current thoughts and feelings. I dislike therapy 'tribalism' and in my own practice seek to incorporate in an ethically pluralistic way theories or practices that assist the client. I may therefore incorporate mindfulness, genograms, time lines, visualisations, Russian dolls, or other creative ways of working with clients. I enjoy theory and am well read in this area, so always hope to bring a new insight into client work.

I am able to bring my past career skills into the supervision relationship by using my lawyer analytical skills and coaching skills from many years as a manager. That said I do absolutely value a rounded holistic approach to supervision - so I see it as a co-enterprise where how you are is as important as how you are working. Supervision shouldn't feel like a tick box exercise.

I offer supervision both in person in Edwinstowe, and online. I am an SPTI approved supervisor for both Degree and Masters courses.

I currently have limited availability for new supervisees, but feel free to email me to check out the position.

Specialist Supervision when working with clients going through the Criminal Justice Process

I am able to offer specialist supervision to assist therapists who are working with clients who have reported sexual abuse (experienced as an adult or child) and are either awaiting a decision as to whether their case will proceed to trial, or who are currently awaiting trial. My experience as a sexual offences specialist prosecutor means that I have an in depth knowledge of the charging and trial process which can prove helpful in putting context to your work. I am able to help and provide guidance about the best way of working with clients to avoid causing issues in court.

Supervision can consist of a one off session, or a series of sessions spread throughout your work with a specific client to provide you with support, knowledge and reassurance.

Lynsey Lowe

Psychotherapist, Supervisor & Trainer

My Background

As stated above I am working towards retirement. I will stop providing supervision in December and stop my work with Inspire CPD in March 2026.

I have been working as a therapist for almost 20 years and as a supervisor for around 13 years. Prior to this I worked as a Careers Coach - so more one to one and group work. So, that's about 25 years of this type of work. It does take it's toll and I know I need some "me" time. It will be nice to set down the responsibilities and only be responsible for me. I'm also loving my role as a grandparent and hope there will be more of that to come.

I have loved the work and it has given me immense satisfaction over the years. I can't quite believe it's 25 years! How is that even possible when I'm surely only about 40!

To everyone I've worked with, in whatever capacity - a big big thank you!
